Exploring is free. You can look around before creating an account or buying anything.
How it works
- Find a place. Search for a town or address, or move around the globe. Select an available square to see the area it covers and its price.
- Claim the square. Pay through Stripe. You can start without an account; after payment, follow the instructions sent to your email to access your purchase.
- Make it personal. Add a photo, a caption and a link. You can update them without another charge while the service operates.
- Share the place. Send your square's link so someone else can open the globe at that spot.
What does a square cost?
$2.00 USD for one square, paid once. The total is shown before you pay. There is no subscription or renewal fee. You can select up to 100 squares in one purchase.
What am I buying?
A licence to display an image, caption and link on a digital map cell. The map follows real-world coordinates, but a purchase gives you no ownership of the physical land. Squares cannot be bought from you by outbidding you, and there is no resale market.
Can I give a square as a gift?
Yes. Choose the gift option when buying and enter the recipient's email. The square belongs to the recipient, who chooses what to put on it. You can also offer a square you already hold to someone else, subject to the transfer conditions.
Why is there a countdown?
The project begins with 100 days on its clock. Each square purchased adds 3.65 days. If the clock reaches zero, the map stops being published. Your claim is not reassigned, but the service's availability depends on that clock. A permanent claim does not mean a promise that the website will stay online forever.
