Acceptable use

Your square is yours, but it sits on a map that strangers look at. These are the lines.

Do not put any of this on a square

This list covers everything you publish — the image, the caption and the link. A caption is content, and so is where a link goes; neither is a lesser thing than the picture.

Links

Links must point at the real destination on the public web. Link shorteners are rejected, and so are addresses carrying a name before the host ([email protected]) and addresses pointing inside a private network — a link is opened from the reader's machine on the reader's network, not from ours. Names written in non-Latin characters are stored and shown in their punycode form, so a lookalike domain reads as the lookalike it is. All links are rendered with rel="nofollow noopener ugc".

Reporting

Every claimed square has a report button. Reports land in a moderation queue and a moderator can pull a square from the map within a minute. Urgent matters: [email protected].

What happens

A square found in breach is suspended and stops rendering for everyone. Illegal content is taken down at once, at our discretion, and nothing is refunded — the square stays yours, what was on it does not come back. Repeated or serious breaches end the account, without refund. We report illegal material to the relevant authorities.

You are told what was removed and why, and you can ask us to look again. See clause 10 of the terms of sale.

Takedown

Rights holders: write to [email protected] with the square coordinates, the work concerned, and a statement of your rights. We act on well-founded notices promptly.
