Every inch of the real world already belongs to somebody. Every field, every beach, every stretch of desert nobody has ever walked across — spoken for, long before you turned up. There is none of it left. That is the absurd fact this is built on.

So here is a second one, and this one is still going: a hundred million squares of map at $2.00 each. Buy one and it is really yours, permanently, and nobody can take it back. Put a house on it. A hometown, a band, a grave, a cat.

It is a project, not a shop. Somewhere between a stamp album, a time capsule and the Million Dollar Homepage. What ends up here is whatever strangers thought was worth $2.00 and a picture — which turns out to be a fairly good record of a moment. And it sustains itself: the clock opens at 100 days, every square anybody buys adds 3.65 more, and when it reaches zero the map goes dark.
